In this episode of NuWu Sessions, we are excited to have cannabis industry veterans J.C. Coats and Tony Lee of Culture & Cannabis. Culture & Cannabis is an all-encompassing community driven cannabis brand, aiming to encapsulate the culture of cannabis and the people who contribute to it. They accomplish this goal through several different avenues, including their well-established podcast show, with over 100 episodes available to view on YouTube, interviewing some of the people who have helped shape Vegas cannabis culture, including local entrepreneurs, cultivation directors, dispensary managers, community leaders, and more. In addition to podcasting, C&C regularly posts cannabis news stories on their website, as well as specializing in event organization, regularly planning fantastic community events and fundraisers. The brand has even developed some amazing cannabis products, available for sale in recreational markets in both Nevada and Oklahoma. You have to check out ‘The Hustler’ - a 24k gold infused preroll, the first of its kind in both markets.
We dive straight into a stoney VIP table package, available in the Vegas Tasting Room. Our guests enjoy pungent, myrcene heavy OG18 flower from Remedy in our American made Jerome Baker Designs x NuWu bongs, available exclusively in the Tasting Room. We also dive into some energizing Hazmat prerolls from Pheno Exotic, plus our terpinolene heavy, invigorating Durban Poison extract from Matrix, enjoying flavorful dabs in cutting edge Puffco Peak Pro’s, available for rental to all guests in our lounge.
“…transcend the culture through the plant,”
Our hosts Deejay and Tom discuss extensively with J.C. and Tony about all areas of the cannabis industry - including the pros and cons of Nevada’s marijuana industry transforming after going recreational, the headline making cannabis state of emergency Nevada declared, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on dispensaries and cultivators, and much more. We also discuss the everlasting cannabis lounge legalization debacle in Nevada - with Tony predicting that the “first” fully operational and profitable cannabis lounge (with the exception of the Tasting Room, of course) will probably not see the light of day for another year or two. He goes into extreme detail about the dragged out legal proceedings, with lots of questions still going unanswered by state legislators.
With Culture & Cannabis also operating in Oklahoma, we discuss the drastic differences between their recreational market versus Nevada’s. J.C. and Tony highlight Oklahoma’s focus on the consumer and the medicinal aspect of the cannabis plant - with the state’s very loose regulations resulting in a congested market, forcing prices to be much cheaper than Nevada. Companies focusing on higher quality cultivation, as well as the medicinal properties of the plant, are gaining more and more success in the state. In what Tony describes as a “safe haven”, many legacy growers around the country have begun operations in Oklahoma solely because of the loose regulations. For example, edibles have no THC milligram limits - unlike in Nevada, where each package cannot exceed 100mg of THC. This is clearly beneficial for medicinal customers who require higher doses, but maybe cannot consume or afford multiple packages of edibles to reach satisfactory results.
By far, this is overall our most informative episode on the cannabis industry and we can’t thank J.C. and Tony enough for coming out and enjoying a sesh in Nevada’s first and only cannabis consumption lounge.
