About the Brand: EGO Brands
During the EGO Brands tour, we met with Jillian Nelson, the Vice President of EGO Brands. EGO Brands was formerly known as Evergreen Organix. The exclusively edible company was founded in 2015 and was the first cannabis facility to produce edibles. The brand prides itself on being 100% locally owned, family-operated, and proudly rooted in the Silver State of Nevada. As we toured the facility, we watched as the delicious chocolate bars get made (like their Chocolate Chip Cookies and Rice Cereal Treats).
Meanwhile, Jillian explained what is at the heart of the EGO Brands company. "The Spirit of the EGO Brands company is to make quality edibles people enjoy eating. One of the big complaints I personally had with edibles is that once you bite into them, it just tastes like cannabis. But we wanted to merge the Epicurean and Culinary elements of food with the fun of cannabis."
Jillian also explained that even though the company produces roughly 200,000 individual edibles a year, they have a small production team of only five women responsible for the large quantities of edibles made each year. EGO Brands has assembled a team of bakers, chocolatiers, scientists, and cannabis experts who came together to create some of the leading edibles in our industry.
EGO Brands has been producing the staple cannabis edibles that help with the munchies while keeping us high. They recently launched their latest decadent edible, the Caramel Pecan Chocolate Chunk Brownie! This hand-made fudgy brownie is a delicious treat that you can use to top off your favorite ice cream sundae or to enjoy after a few dab hits as you ease into your weekend. The Caramel Pecan Chocolate Chunk Brownie is enveloped in rich chocolate chunks, filled with sweet and buttery pecans, and coated in a sweet and creamy caramel drizzle. About the Brand: Fleur Cannabis
As we explored the Fleur Cannabis facility, we also got to speak with the President of Fleur Cannabis (& EGO Brands), Evan Marder. As Evan puts it, "the Ethos of Fleur Cannabis is to grow the cleanest cannabis possible for a commercial Market." Fleur Cannabis was founded in 2017, and since the company's birth, the focus has been to stand against chemical farming. The cannabis industry was flooded with pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, and every other toxic chemical you can't name. Fleur Cannabis' mission has been to create natural cannabis cultivation. With this aim in mind, the team at Fleur Cannabis grew to include botanists, microbiologists, and cannabis experts.
At Fleur, they use sustainable growing practices such as the Korean Natural Farming methods. As Evan mentioned, "We use no-till living soil," so they don't use synthetic fertilizers. The cannabis plants are only fed natural amendments as needed, and the soil is only replenished when it depletes. This allows the team at Fleur to guarantee that their products are as organic as possible, despite the limitations on getting cannabis organically certified at the federal level.
